Since the cancer of Eritrea, at this point in time, is well diagnosed and determined — beyond a shadow of a doubt — why not intensly concentrate on the immediate removal of the cancer after which the healing and development process of Eritrea would start?
I realize that it is easy for me to scribble these words in the safety of my humble peaceful living.

That was billions of dollars question taking the inflation into consideration nowadays rezen, the moribund regime in Asmara has run its course, some of us traveled with it paving the path and carrying it on our shoulder and some simply watched as it reeked havoc in our social, political, cultural and the very identity of who we are while biting each other’s head off at every endeavor. Yes it is in its last leg, all the signs are pointing towards the exit sign, as I said before, the self appointed capo will paint himself to the corner, he has dealt all the cards on deck, time has caught up with him, we could have shortened his shelf life while we can a while back and save hundreds of thousands of precious souls and our collective sanity in the process but, we chose to run giving it our implied consent to rule our homeland and some snuggled with it for survival. The evil has expunged its last wrath and it will be consumed by thee… if that is what we’ve been waiting for, wherever we are, it is here, the question is… what we gonna do about it??? we are his last card, our collective action will be his doom otherwise, refinance your mortgages and those inside the beleaguered homeland plan your escape route as usual.
Your sentiment touches the core of my heart and indeed the hearts of 99% of Eritreans (including Isaias cliques). But ……,
I assure you our time is not far away and soon we will see a free Eritrea for which our martyrs gave their lives. I cannot wait a moment longer for that day.
Don’t give up brother and take a lesson from the dark days of the 70s and 80s when the struggle for Eritrean independence only felt like a far away dream. Our second independence is much much closer than that when Isaias will be no more.
Now let me use the English language — a language that was hammered upon me [NOT my ancestors’ written language, derivative of Geez, with grammar and all — the only written language in the Continent of BLACK AFRICA !!!!!! I stop there, even though it is a a root cause of fundamental problem of the so-named permanent “under-developed countries” who were maneuvered to have deep inferiority complex in front of the master colonial powers. The damage is deeply rooted.
Dear Dr. Habte
Thank you very much for the response to my humble question. Your confidence on Eritrea’s future is admirable, of course. By the way, needless to say, the solution to Eritrea’s problem is ERITREA itself — NEVER by any single outsider or groups. This, of course, was proved — beyond a shadow of doubt — by Eritreans who sacrificed their LIFE for Eritrean liberation.[1961 -1991]
Eritrea needs to have an independent future as it has been looking for time immemorial under so many varied foreign colonizers, which also includes — the surprise of all surprises — an indigenous hidden Dictator for about twenty seven (27) years during the 1961 -1991 struggle for the liberation and then openly as self-appointed President and Dictator of Eritrea for the last thirty years (I.e. since 1991). What is so deeply hurtful, amazing and embarrassing is the historical sad FACT that the Eritrean struggle for independence was guided by the indigenous Dictator. To seemingly sooth our wound, we like to point out, at every occasion, the fact that the indigenous Dictator is NOT an Eritrean, even though he was born, raised, grew-up and climbed the ladder of Life IN ERITREA.
Where do we go from here? We have been under the Dictator for almost sixty (60) years!!! And the Dictator is roughly eighty (80) years old. The whole thing is an amazing mysterious phenomenon:
a) The well known Eritrean Liberation Heroes suddenly kept quiet;
b) The people of Eritrea accepted their life under absolute Dictator with murmur and obedience;
c) Eritreans left their beloved country and scattered around the Globe ;
e) Diaspora Eritreans have no choice but to be heroes of Eritrea from a safe distance ;
f) In the mean time, Issayas Afewerki Abraha Miratch, the Self-appointed president of Eritrea
‘cleaned’ Eritrea to his own taste and security:
How did the self-appointed president manage to be unchallenged Master of Eritrea?
1) He liquidated eleven of his top most Freedom Fighters in one night, exactly and simultaneously at
03:00 Hour >>> the first TEST for REACTION of Gallant Freedom Fighters and the
ordinary people of the country. Everything was QUIET >>> the first success for Issayas.
2) He made a fool of the entire people of Eritrea by having a Draft Constitution for Democratic
Eritrea, which he never intended to implement ; Another success
3) Slowly but surely he drained the stamina and the well known heroism of Eritreans; No reaction
from Eritreans
4) Then, he decided to see the ‘political climate’ and ventured outside Eritrea by travelling to Ethiopia
and having people’s meeting with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia; The reception given to HIM was
amazing
5) In the above meeting, Issayas deliberately cajoled the Ethiopian people by suggestion that the
Prime Minster of Ethiopia “LEAD “ both Ethiopia and Eritrea!!! In his words: “LEAD US in the
pursuit of political leadership of the two countries !!! Needless to say, Issayas stunned the
audience. But above all, he proved one thing for himself beyond a shadow of doubt: THE
ERITREAN PEOPLE IN ITS ENTIRETY — within Eritrea and outside — were completely docile
to be a shred of meaningful political opponent. His conclusion proved to be to the point, without a
shadow of doubt. Thus, the world renowned gallantry of Eritreans, inside and outside, was
‘GONE WITH THE WIND’.
What a TRAGEY!!! Or, based on the loss for appropriate reasoning, the Eritrean insightful saying is apt to be the point: “መርገም” How else could we explain the strange phenomenon of governing Eritrea by various outside colonial powers and — to top it off — by an indigenous absolute dictator for almost sixty years. And thus, the Historical Record of Eritrea shows the obvious.

What ever happened to the 80 – 90 Opposition Groups, scattered around the Globe, presumably ALL working for the SAME goal i.e to over throw Issayas? Now Imagine, it is like having 80-90 liberation fronts to get the independence of Eritrea!!!!
rezen, answer to your question in the post script, opposing as usual with no intent some even morphing as an appendage of the illegitimate regime in Asmara. Tigray is one of the most burning issues on the globe for the wrong reason today as the poor Eritrean people’s decades long strife is swept to the side, on the contrary viewed an ‘aggressor’ nation in the war theatre, isn’t that ironic? one thing that came to light from this dark spectacle that has befallen on the poor Tigrayan people is, it displayed out in the open for the world to see the bestial nature of HGDEF which had a grip on the Eritrean people for as long as a person’s lifetime, and the abused came out from their foxholes with vengeance filled with rage and hate and are taking it out on the wrong target…. this has been our story since the serpent slithered into our backyard.. killing our brothers, sisters and children and feeding them to the beast and he roars in his den still looking like the oldest teenager in town. This is the sentiment of a true blue Eritrean who fought voluntarily and gave up the spoils of childhood for the goodness of Eritrea and I wouldn’t dare say it represents 99% of Eritreans, I always speak for myself. Speaking for somebody else is HGDEF’s culture, ex. ‘AYKESERNAN!’
