I really did not want to leave a comment but I must:
With all do respect to his education and personal achievements – This very person, Dr. Bereket, was part of the group who drafted the constitution knowing that Mr Isayas A. was putting twists and turns to the very foundation “drafted constitution”. A man of highest integrity and an absolute respect to the founding document “to be”, knowing he/she was being coerced and strained by Mr Isayas A then and only then such person could have departed rather than draft a half baked one. Instead, the draft was written with gaps and holes at every corner. The very fact that Dr Bereket was willing to turn and twist the constitution’s “wording” and the very meaning of the draft and sugar code the draft in order to satisfy Mr Isayas A. means that this very person is not the way towards “tomorrow” for Eritrea. This is based on fact in the very interview Dr. Bereket gave on how the constitution was drafted. This is like a day late and a dollar short. We may change the days, years and perhaps the name of an event or organization – if the players are the very same team then the outcome is a zero sum.
So I say – if you are not invested in it and doing things half baked then better to leave things as is until critical mass gets to a point of no return. It is like a game of chess – you touch “it” then own “it” and make it move to the end.

The quote drives the message straight home Mike, with great respect and admiration to the Dr’s work, the constitution is a mere collection of rules and regulations without the constituents, our priority should have been to maintain and safeguard the systemic erosion and disappearance of that precious asset over the years– the constituents. The ravages on our beautiful nations face is so obvious to the naked eye today to the point her children can’t recognize her anymore.
