Dr Mebrahtu’s analysis has really surprised me.. I have no idea how much he knows about present Ethiopian politics and the balance of forces in the country. Actually, Abiy Ahmed has become a generally (but not entirely) popular leader especially after the emergence of the Corona virus pandemic in the country and the way it has been handled. OLF, OFCO and Jawar Ahmed have also lost a lot of their former credibility. But, the main fallacy in Dr Mebrahtu’s analysis lies in his claim that Abiy’s government wants to dismantle the federalist system and instead establish a unitary state – which is manifestly untrue. In fact, there is no major political party in Ethiopia that wants to do this.- although there may be factions here and there that want it..
What evidence does Dr Mebrahtu have to claim that Dr Abiy would lose the election in the Oromia and Amhara regions? This might have been true sometime back but apparently not now..
Dr Mebrahtu’s research skills should have put a bridle on his wild imagination!

Dr Abiy is a wanna be dictator. Look no where who is befriending: tyrant isias, and arab leaders. The other sign is what actions he is taking to solve ethio political & social problems. He is doing either ignoring them or exacerbating them by adding fuel. All his preaching is intended to gain sentimental support.
Jowar Mohammed is very credible politician, the support he gains from nearly all of Oromia and could form alliance with other parties to comfortable win in a fair & free election. As Dr Mebrahtu clearly stated, Dr Abiy is heavily invested in how to bypass election or rig it if it occurred. The latter is dangerous in current ethio political climate.
Abiy is a man invested about his ambition of powe, not ethio. He want to turn it into dictatorship,
For how ethios came out in mass to show their support for him when he replace former PM (resigned), its very sad to see he has no people & country agenda. its all about hanging into power. What’s wrong with Africans ??
